On our construction site, history becomes visible – and the future is being created. The gutting work is complete, the foundation for the next construction phase is laid, and the first visible changes hint at the building’s future character.
A Building with Soul: Hidden Treasures Revealed
With the ceilings removed, the original construction of straw and clay has been uncovered – an impressive testament to past craftsmanship. Beautiful wooden beams have emerged, which we will leave exposed to preserve the building’s historic charm.
The floors have also been stripped down to the original sand layer. It’s remarkable to see how much authenticity these elements hold. In the stairwell, sandstone steps and surfaces have revealed their former glory after gentle slag blasting. While some refinements are still needed, the substance already impresses.
Vaulted Cellar and Philosophers‘ Garden: Spaces Full of Potential
A standout feature is the impressive vaulted cellar, now fully revealed in all its grandeur. With its massive stone walls and unique atmosphere, it forms the heart of the building, connecting history and the future.
Outside, in the Philosophers‘ Garden, the outlines of the future cafeteria are already taking shape. With a sweeping view of the greenery, this space will not only be a place for gathering and relaxation but also a bridge between the building’s architecture and its surroundings.
Steady Progress on All Fronts
While large amounts of soil have been excavated and transported, the construction of the underground garage has been completed as planned. The first section of the cafeteria annex is already being poured with concrete, and excavators and cranes dominate the site.
There is still a long way to go before completion in 2026, but the progress so far shows we are on the right track. With great dedication and excellent teamwork between our team and partners, we are laying the foundation for a project that is steadily taking shape.
Some who step into the building today can already feel it: the radiance that our new headquarters will exude in the future is beginning to take form in the imagination.
